Our water clarity here on the upper salmon has improved drastically over the past week, and with summer weather finally here, we anticipate the hatches to start getting larger in numbers.

Our guides have been seeing a number of bugs, Salmon Flies, Golden Stones, Yellow Sally’s and Caddis.  We suggest a dry dropper rig for the foreseeable future, with sallies and caddis when fishing just on top.

Droppers:
We are still fishing a lot of rubber legs in a multitude of colors ranging from lighter tan to brown and black, jigged bead heads are a favorite of our but non weighted have been working in smaller water.  #12 – #08

Many traditional nymphs have been providing fish like Copper Johns, Prince, Hares ears an Perdigons. #14 – #18

Terrestrial are just about showing themselves theses days as well and will only get more percipient from here, if you find yourself dishing smaller creeks in the area, try an ant pattern like the Ant Acid.  Hopper bugs will likely produce as well.

Our Alpine lakes are starting to wake up, some of the lower elevation lakes have been fishing, we suggest sticking to sub surface flies like leech patterns and Woolley Buggers, if your there early or late you may encounter some risers, which will likely be to mosquito’s, light colored Adam’s or Hares ear dries in a #14 should do the trick.
